I need a different car! If you click on my username and look at my previously asked questions, you'll see that the last question I asked was about the head gasket needing replaced on my 1994 Cavalier. I've now found that the head is bad on that car, and I don't think it's worth it to me to spend more on that car than it's worth. My neighbor has a 1989 Cadillac Deville that she would sell me for a low price. It's in pretty good condition, one of the fenders is a little dented up, but it has new tires and transmission and she tells me it runs well and gets about 22 miles a gallon (which is more than I expected!). It's an amazingly smooth ride, but has high mileage, it is an 89 afterall though! Would this be a good car to buy?

The Cadillac DeVille shared it's platform with the Chevy Impala and the large Buicks and Olds of the era, so many of the parts are interchangable. Also, those cars all use the same engine; a Chevy 350, which is the most-produced of any engine (about 500 million), so parts are plentiful and cheap. The DeVille should be a solid and economical ride.

This type of auto has a very good track record as far as longevity .If the bent body does not bother you, I think the mileage should not be a problem. The gas milage she quoted,if the car is tuned and new plugs added,it should maintain this
type of MPG. If the price is right and the car drives out good.. go for it..Booterhead
