My dad is planning on buying a Cadillac Escalade, but i wanted to know how reliable they are before he goes out and buys one. I'm not really a Cadillac person so i don't know much about them.

I don't buy into consumer reports. They've had it in for the domestic companies for at least a decade. The escalade is built on the same platform as the new chevy tahoe, and that vehicle is getting praised from everyone, so the caddy must be at least as good.

Cadillac is make by GMC, one of the must important and reliable car maker companies in the planet, the engine of that Van is considered one of a kind, I think that your father is making one of the best investments ever... Not to mention the luxury of the Escalade...

The new platform is getting good reviews based off of what amounts to a glorified test-drive, but has not had enough time to be surveyed by actual owners yet. However, there is a system wide failure at GM as they have horrible issues with electronics. **

Your dad's biggest issue, however, isn't reliability, it will be "Depreciation". Meaning, that 70g's he's about to spend, will be worth about 20g's in 4 or 5 years.

Tell your dad he should buy a Land Cruiser instead. It's just like the Lexus GX470, but about 10g's less. BTW, the LC was determined by Consumer Reports to be the best Large SUV available today.

Don't buy into the hip-hop community's endorsement. They can afford to fix it and drive another ride while it's being worked on, and they don't care about depreciation either, they're frickin rich.

it is a cool car and it is reliable too...your father is a smart man

We get 12 inches of snow every two months in the winter time & a Cadillac is what you should be driving in those conditions. They have great traction, and are very, very comfortable. Especially with the DVD for the kids in the back.
