diesel would be better choice for towing or install a big block engine should bolt right in

It's a 1994 Chevy Silverado K1500, 4x4, Club Cab, 8' Bed, 5.7L V-8, Factory Tow Package, Cap, Not sure about the gear ratio yet or the wheelbase.

For the persone above... a big block motor will NOT bolt right in. Motor mounts are different, computer is diff, 4L60E doesn't have a chance living behind a BB, and there is a bunch of other stuff to change as well...

Alright, I have a '97 1/2 ton, 350ci auto tranny, and 3.73 gears. I can't remember the HP/TQ ratings of the 94 ( I have in my mind 215hp and 290tq), but mine is 255HP and 330ft-tq.

A 26' will be at the limits of the truck, check the GVWR of the camp trailer to help with you figuring if the truck will be overloaded. If the truck your talking about has the 3.42 axle ratio, you will not be a happy camper! Your truck wont pull the weight in overdrive so lock it out, and froma stop will be a workout on flat ground and be rediculous on a hill. The 3.73 will be a ton better! You will have a chance of overdrive on flat ground if your not going into the wind. 4:10 would be the way to go, enough said.

I've pulled max GVW a few times and getting down the interstate is a chore, engine temps weren't a problem at all, but tranny shifting is, just lock it down in a lower gear and take your time, running Wide Open Throttle up a hill is no way to climb in a gasser. Back roads you don't notice a problem with power because you usually don't get going fast enough to matter.

This will pull and do fairly well. Since it is a half ton, you might have to check into the towing limit as that has become a problem on the highways as the cops cracked down.
