2001 Chrysler 300M?

When the heater is on and i come to a stop the heat blows cold air, when i step on the gas it starts to blow hot air again. When i stop with the heater off my car starts to overheat. Does anyone know anything. I am thinking it is the thermostat or water pump. Please let me know.
