from the jaguar or the mercedez benz

the Mercedes has more expensive , luxurious models than current jags ,however Mercedes dont hand make there woodwork or make there interiors from scratch straight from the hide etc so depends how you look at it.

The Jaguar is just a FORD, but the benz is a MERCEDES.

I would only buy a Jaguar if the desire to be different overloaded my ability to spend money wisely. Jaguars are nice fun cars but I have found that should you compare equal models Mercedes is a better car that you will spend more time driving than being in the repair garage.
Jaguar is the top of the line Ford product while Mercedes is still a Mercedes.

The Benz, because a Jag is basically a Ford Mondeo chassis with a load of fancy bits and a different shaped shell added to it.

Having owened a few of both my vote is with the Meredes

Mercedes are streets ahead of the Ford/Jaguar.

Trouble is, since the take over, Mercedes just aren't built properly anymore. I've got a 13 year old W124 which is as solid as a rock. Its built like a truck. I know a guy who's got a 3 year old that is rusting! Whats that all about?
But then, if you're thinking of buying either, your question sounds like you've got more money than sense and wouldn't appreciate either of the marques.

Jaguar has improved over the years, however, still does not approach the cachet of Mercedes. If one compares price, performance, reliability, safety, and comfort at each model level, Mercedes always comes out on top.
In previous days, Jaguar made some truly great cars such as the XKE, however, those days have long passed and since then, Jaguar has struggled to produce viable compelling cars.
