Default Are Kia's good cars?

I am looking for an affordable auto primarily for work transit, but also a young (20's) lifestyle.

I was originally looking at the Toyota Matrix which seems really popular, and thus limited deals at dealerships. I also looked at Scion, but am not a fan of the no haggle pricing. Lenders outside of Scion think it's overpriced from what I hear.

The Kia Spectra5 is comparable to Matrix, priced lower and has a 10 year warranty, including a 5 year roadside. I am just not familiar with this korean car maker.

Please share your thoughts?

Kia is ok, for what it is. It is definatly not a toyota. I have had 3 Hyundai's (Kia is now owned by Hyundai), and they are definatly worth the money, albiet still a little lackluster when compared to the Japenese offerings. My advice would be to look around for a low-mileage Mazda Protege 5. In fact, you can see one I have for sale, go to my website www.autoshowflorida.com and search for the Mazda Protege5. It is a great car for the money, excellent quality, still has factory warranty, yet extended warrantys are cheap. I think you would be happier, both "cool factor" wise, and pocketbook wise.

A Kia Is A Good Car Until Your Warenty Runs Out And Then Every Thing Possible Goes Wrong. I Know Because I Have One And My Warenty Went Out And Then My Timing Belt Broke My Brakes Went Out And My Gear Shifter Wouldn't Come Out Of Park. My Transmission Went Bad And That Is Just A Few Things That I Have Had To Pay For.
