Default My Lexus ES300 engine dies after starting.?

Was told air intake valve needed cleaning,or should I change it? Any other suggestions?
Maybe they said air flow valve or something? Toyota place sprayed it with some cleaner to "remove deposits" and it seems to be better, but not entirely. Wondered if I need to replace the "valve" or just spray it on a regular basis? Thanks!
It's a 1999 Lexus ES300 with 83,000 miles. He was able to spray it by removing the air intake cover, didn't have to get into the engine.
