Default Toyota Truck Problem? What could it be and how much will it cost?

I have an 89 Toyota Truck, 4wd, 5 spd, 4 cylinder. lately i have been noticing a problem it seems like the clutch is not catching al the way. It doesnt get full power and makes a hissing sound while im accelerating. It also seems like sometimes it revs up then catches or something and the rpms go down i have no idea what it is any ideas??
