how do u remove the car stereo from a new VW Golf ?

are there screws to undo somewhere ?
there are no holes at the sides of the stereo - hence the question - ive taken loads of stereos out of cars before but i just cant find anywhere to insert the din tools on this one

you must have the proper tools there is a kit you can get its not cheap but if you where to take it to a vw dealer they have the tools and would probably do it for you. with out this kit you not be able to get it out with out braeking something. the kit is about $30-50 you can get it from summit,matco,etc...

99-05:
*NOTE - When removing be sure you have the anti-theft CODE for reinstallation of your car stereo.

1) Insert "Din tools" into holes on both sides of radio.
2) Push tools slightly to the outside of the car stereo, this releases the lock mechanism, pushing them to the side of the car stereo.
3) Pull unit forward from dash.
4) Remove antenna and connectors.

Din Tools are something like the tools listed here:
