Why do Volvo cars constantly have their lights on even during the daytime?

I've always found this to be a little weird and offputting especially if a Volvo is driving behind me!

drive lights a lot of cars have specific 'daytime' or drive lights but volvos use the same.. mine does too and i drive a chevy malibu.. it annoys me and im driving the thing!! haha
