Default 2000 Audi tt overheating, maybe its the thermostat?

I have a 2000 audi tt overheating in only a 2 mile drive. I think that the thermostat is stuck, but not sure. It was stored over winter for 3 months and I never had a problem. Then I took it out for a drive and it overheated on me. I was going to replace this myself, but seems like an intense job. I was wondering if anybody had diagrams or a better diagnosis due to the overheating. The fan still turns on and there is coolant in the resovoir. If anybody has any answers or diagrams for installation it would be much appreciated.

Those cars are famous for air in the cooling system. Have a good mechanic "burp" the system. It takes a little time and you must know where the checkpoints are. They can also check the stat. without tearing the system down.
