I want to buy this Buick Century Custom 03' but its got a new valve cover gasket.?

I don't know if I should buy it or not. My dad's not a mechanic but he said not to since it was replaced with a brand new one. I don't even know what a valve cover gasket is. That was changed and a new oil filter also. Everything else seems to be okay.
